The Park

Butterfly Park Empuriabrava is a small tropical zoo with more than 15 years of dedication. It is situated on the Costa Brava in a region of natural and cultural richness, between three natural parks: the Aiguamolls de l'Empordá to the south, the Cap de Creus to the east and the Albera to the north. In a 2.000m2 greenhouse we have recreated a tropical rainforest where butterflies, parrots and many other animals are the protagonists. The exotic plants are fundamental in maintaining the right conditions and a balanced ecology for our inhabitants.
Families, young and old, will enjoy close contact with nature and the free roaming animals. Watch the world's most beautiful butterflies flutter freely around you in natural surroundings and learn about their biology such as: feeding, breeding, metamorphosis, defense mechanisms or camouflage...
Some of the curiosities which you may encounter is the world's biggest butterfly, Attacus atlas; the biggest pigeon Goura victoria and the Mexican Blind cavefish.
The aim of the park is sensitise the visitors to the importance of butterfly and habitat conservation.
There are regular showings of a video about butterflies in different languages.
